These beautiful hand painted pots embody 2,500 years of mankind’s history from the development of high fired stoneware techniques using downward draft kiln technology in the Muong Dynasty to the use of Cobalt to affect blue decoration in the Ming Dynasty.

Although China has switched production to factory made mass produced and very cheap pottery of dubious quality and strength, there still remains old traditional potteries using these ancient techniques scattered around South East Asia.

In the north of Vietnam, on the Red River there are deposits of Kaolin clay which is the basis of any pottery centre, as in the Potteries in England. Our Vintage pots come from this area from ancient downward draft kilns firing pots up to 1300 degrees and making them totally frost proof. They are hand painted by women in the local village.
